I have not seen a Praying Mantis for 21 years, so I was delighted to find this one in my own backyard. He's huge! I tracked down a grasshopper for him which the mantis ate EYES first. Ouch!!! It fed on EVERY part of the grasshopper leaving only the waste in the grasshopper's digestive tract. I'm sure that these amazing creatures offer vivid inspiration for movie aliens. Quick research showed that matis species have been known to feed on hummingbirds and mice. I wanted to hold him. On second thought--no thanks!!!
